Research and Development Projects aim to encourage policy and technical studies for technology development and adoption of the project results, as well as knowledge exchanges through conferences, thereby promoting environmental protection and nature conservation. The projects cover three types of projects, namely research projects, technology development and demonstration projects, and conference projects. Research projects and technology development and demonstration projects should contribute in a direct and practical way towards environmental improvement and conservation of the local environment. They may include the introduction, development and demonstration of new technologies. Conference projects should be green and sustainable in nature, and facilitate exchange of best practices, expertise and experience in environmental protection and conservation, aiming to raise Hong Kong’s profile as a leading green city.
Research and Development Projects are categorised in the following types:
Research project
Technology Development and Demonstration project
Conference project
Each Research and Development Project should normally last for not more than 3 years unless approved or required by the ECF Committee for specific reasons.
Applications can be submitted online, in person, by post or by email.
Under normal circumstances, application(s) submitted by the principal investigator who is already undertaking two approved on-going research projects and/or technology development and demonstration projects and one on-going conference project will not be approved.
For each round of new application, the Secretariat of the Environment and Conservation Fund Committee (the Secretariat) will organise briefing session(s) for organisations to understand the application requirements. If you wish to attend the briefing session, please stay tuned for the latest news on this website. For any questions regarding the application, organisations may contact the Secretariat (Tel.: 2835 1234).
